God’s Answer!
I have been asked this question, in one form or another, by almost everyone whom seeks counseling at Abundant Life. Used as a verb, trust means, “Place confidence in.” Stating the question differently, “why is it so difficult to place confidence in God?” We now get a new shade or perspective on the question.
The word “trust” is used many time in the Bible. Clearly, God requires us to trust Him. Hebrews 11:6 states, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a reward of them that diligently seek Him.” Therefore, the lack of trust or confidence in God is directly related to lack of relationship. I would not trust or place my confidence in someone with $50,000 unless I know them very, very well. The same is true with God. We do not place or trust our security, hope, acceptance, shame, inferiority, etc. to God because we do not really know Him at that level of relating.
Begin today to five these areas to God and begin to trust his name:
Psalms 33:21; His Word, Psalms 119:42; Jesus, Matthew 12:17-21.
In so doing, we will experience:
*Joy – Psalms 5:11 *Blessedness – Psalms 40:4 *Deliverance – Psalms 22:4,5
*Triumph – Psalms 25:2,3 * Safety – Psalms 56:4,11 *God’s Goodness – Psalms 31:19
*Usefulness – Psalms 73:28 *Mercy – Psalms 32:10 *Guidance – Proverbs 3:5,6
*Provision – Psalms 37:3,5 *Inheritance – Isaiah 57:13
On going difficulty in trusting God may indicate a need for counseling to discover other possible areas of bondage.
Think of a 3-spoked wheel. One spoke is trust. One faith. One obedience.
The hub is Agape Love. We are the tires.
The spokes are all connected to the hub.
If one spoke breaks or bends, it affects the wheel. We then are in spiritual vertigo, off balance, wobbly, and quickly led off track.
We can’t have faith without trust, trust without being obedient, and obedience without faith. Arrange in any order, same results; lost.
If the hub cracks or breaks, the wheel then becomes useless.
Christ, Agape love, is the source that holds life together.
Colossians 1:17
He is before all things, and Him all things hold together.
Staying 💪’n Christ
I am so very glad to see these blogs from you, Dr. Nation. I hope you are well. I have benefited GREATLY from the counseling I got from you, and I want you to know that I realize just how much I benefited. I have always remembered a saying from one of the videos I watched. “You are NOT just an old sinner, saved by grace…YOU are a CHILD OF GOD now.” Wow. completely different attitude and way of looking at life and the purpose of my life, which is to worship and serve God, no matter in what capacity that may be.
Just thank you again,
